With Linostairs, linoleum becomes a premium design element on the staircase

The staircase renovation market is gaining a striking new player. Linostairs, a new product group from VICstairs, is an exclusive concept in which Marmoleum is applied to stairs. Where the combination of linoleum and staircases was previously technically complex due to the lack of suitable finishes, Linostairs now introduces a registered stair concept for new-build and renovation projects, developed specifically for the Dutch trade and retail sector. “With this, we are launching a completely new concept that brings together Dutch Design and sustainability,” says the Linostairs spokesperson.

Within the interior design industry, Marmoleum is an established name. The material has been around for 125 years and is produced in a climate-positive way from natural raw materials. This high-quality, sustainable flooring is gaining ground, while the staircase is often overlooked.

With Linostairs, we are set to change that, says the Linostairs spokesperson. Thanks to its wooden overlay treads, the new system blends seamlessly into a sustainable interior look and can be applied to all common Marmoleum floors from the “Forbo Flooring Solid” collection. This allows the flooring experience to be effortlessly carried through to the staircase, which acts as a connecting element within the interior. The result is a harmonious whole and greater unity within the space.

Registered stair concept of wood & Marmoleum

The innovative character of the system lies in the overlay tread, which features a specially developed, integrated stair nosing made of multi-layered wood. Unlike other systems combined with Marmoleum, a type of wood has been selected that is processed in an innovative way into one of the most durable overlay treads available. “This unique design delivers an extra-strong stair nosing that effortlessly withstands the heavy, intensive load of daily use. Wood and a natural product such as Marmoleum form a perfect combination, both technically and visually. The result is a sleek, profile-free design that is easy to install.”

In this way, the staircase benefits from all the well-known advantages of Marmoleum: the material is wear-resistant, comfortable underfoot, sound-dampening and easy to maintain. It also responds to the growing consumer demand for environmentally conscious solutions. The linoleum can easily be replaced later thanks to the newly developed bonding method. At the end of its lifespan, the overlay tread can likewise be reused as a raw material, preserving the circular value of the product.

To keep the barrier as low as possible for the interior furnisher, especially in light of the current shortage of skilled professionals, Linostairs offers targeted training courses. In addition, an optional installation service is available through specialized fitting partners. With the launch of this new brand mark and concept, Linostairs introduces a structural enhancement for the Dutch interior retailer, who can now expand their showroom with a unique and sustainable complete concept.
